Two Female Support Workers Required – CramlingtonWe are looking for compassionate, confident and reliable female Support Workers to support a young man living in Cramlington with cerebral palsy, autism and severe learning difficulties.
He is friendly, vocal, and affectionate, when meeting new people. He is non‑verbal and communicates using gestures and sounds, so strong observational and communication skills are essential.Mornings can be particularly challenging, and he may show behaviours that challenge, especially towards people he knows well. Support workers will need patience, resilience and the confidence to provide clear, calm, and reassuring boundaries.He is a wheelchair user and requires hoisting for all transfers. He responds best to female support, particularly with personal care, as his main carer is also female.
Hours & Care Package
- 5 hours per week
- Monday to Friday - 8am-9pm - no flexibility as needs to be ready to attend day center
- Two carers required to share the hours and ensure consistent cover
- Proven experience with cerebral palsy, autism, and challenging behaviour
- A happy‑go‑lucky attitude with strong emotional resilience
- The ability to remain calm under pressure
- Confident and authoritative when required, while remaining kind and respectful
- Fluent English speaker (essential due to non‑verbal communication needs)
- Physically able to support a wheelchair user and perform hoisting safely
- Female applicants only (genuine occupational requirement due to personal care and established support needs)
- All ages considered, though experience is a key factor
