Summary
Allstaff Manufacturing Division are delighted to bring to the market the role of Goods Inwards Quality Inspector for company based in Kilysth. Please note this is a fixed term contract of six months. Due to the location of the company, it is advantageous to have your own transport.
The Goods Inwards Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all incoming materials and components meet specified quality, technical, and documentation requirements before release to production. This role plays a critical part in maintaining product integrity across all manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect incoming goods to ensure compliance with purchase orders in terms of quantity, specification, and quality
Review and verify material certification in line with standards such as EN10204 (3.1 / 3.2), ensuring traceability and compliance
Confirm that chemical and mechanical properties meet material specifications
Validate third-party certification (e.g., 3.2 intent) including cross-checking heat numbers, certification numbers, and test reports
Carry out visual and dimensional inspections using appropriate tools and techniques
Perform or support NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) activities where required (e.g., PMI, DPI, hardness testing)
Apply sampling plans in accordance with ISO 2859-1 and internal vendor rating systems
Complete and maintain inspection records, vendor records, and traceability documentation
Identify and manage non-conforming materials, raising rejection documentation and ensuring quarantine procedures are followed t
Liaise with Quality, Purchasing, and Suppliers regarding quality issues and corrective actions
Ensure correct material identification and traceability marking is applied
Accurately input goods receipt and inspection data into the company system
Support continuous improvement initiatives, including supplier performance improvement and inspection efficiency
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong attention to detail with a keen eye for defects and inconsistencies
Good understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances
Ability to interpret and verify material certification and technical documentation
Knowledge of quality standards and inspection techniques
Methodical, organised, and able to make sound quality decisions
Good communication skills when dealing with suppliers and internal teams
Basic IT skills for data entry and document control
Essential Experience & Knowledge
Experience in a manufacturing or engineering quality environment
Working knowledge of material certification (EN10204 3.1 / 3.2)
Familiarity with incoming inspection processes and sampling plans
Understanding of non-conformance control processes
Minimum 24 months experience in a similar role
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge or certification in NDE methods (e.g., DPI, MPI, PMI, UT depending on your plant)
Experience with pressure equipment or instrumentation manufacturing
Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma principles)
Forklift truck licence (counterbalance or reach)
Experience using ERP/MRP systems
Salary: £28,000 – £30,000 depending on experience
