The primary goal of this role is to ensure the highest standards of maintenance and repair across all Trust properties and facilities. By providing expert technical advice, overseeing complex maintenance activities, and ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations, the role is pivotal in maintaining the integrity and safety of our infrastructure. This involves performing scheduled and emergency maintenance, diagnosing, and fixing issues, and overseeing technical staff. You'll work on various equipment, provide technical advice, and help develop policies to keep safety and compliance standards high. Additionally, you'll conduct risk assessments, keep detailed records, and take part in emergency and safety procedures.
The Trust employ around 5000 staff and serve a local population of 1.1 million people. We have more than 230 services including inpatient wards, outpatient and community services. Currently, provide inpatient care for approximately 5,300 people each year and treat more than 45,000 patients in the community in Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark; as well as substance misuse services for residents of Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich.

1.Conduct planned and unplanned maintenance of hospital equipment, ensuring accurate records. Advise staff and contractors on safety compliance.
2. Diagnose and repair faults, carry out testing and documentation for safety and functionality. Solve complex electrical and control system issues and certify your own work.
3. Install, manufacture, or modify equipment from drawings. Perform and document maintenance tests.
4. Follow up on installations, prepare for inspections, ensure efficient plant operation, and evaluate inspection reports.
5. Attend to breakdowns, restore service quickly, and manage plant changeovers or isolation to minimise downtime.
6. Maintain and repair air-conditioning systems, including fault diagnosis using the Building Management System (BMS), and perform minor electrical work related to mechanical systems, utilising comprehensive system knowledge.
7. Plan work and supervise and train apprentices and maintenance assistants, ensuring proper evaluation and communication of safety requirements and providing annual leave and sickness cover for the trade supervisor when required
8. Act as fire marshal for your local area, participate in emergency on-call, and hold a CP role for electrical LV. Conduct risk assessments and ensure safety compliance.
9. Implement and propose changes to policies and procedures, stay updated on health, safety, and HTM (Health Technical Memoranda) 01-08 standards.
10. Maintain and repair trust properties, undertake research and development activities, manage day-to-day tasks, and provide practical training.
11. Manage and perform heavy repairs and equipment moves, maintaining focus despite occasional emergencies. Handle distressing situations and work in unpleasant conditions, including bad weather, heat, humidity, and exposure to body fluids and fumes.
12. To drive between trust properties in a safe and timely manner adhering to trust policies.
