Your new company
Desian Education are proud to be working in partnership with a well-established and highly regarded full cohort SEND school in Chester as they are looking to appoint a reliable and motivated teaching assistant for a temporary to permanent contract. This role will be starting after the Easter holidays and will last the remainder of the academic year, with a permanent contract guaranteed for the right individual.
Your new role
This is an extremely supportive SEND specialist school that supports pupils between the ages of 2 – 19 with a variety of complex and profound SEND such as ASD, non-verbal, PMLD, and more. You will be joining an extremely supportive year 3 class with the full support of an experienced teacher and 4 teaching assistants. You will offer 1:1 support to a pupil with ASD and non-verbal that is new to the school and is struggle to integrate due to a change in their routine. You will support them throughout the school day, meeting them at the school gate and walking them back to their parents/guardians at the end of the day. You will:
- Advocate for them throughout the day
- Implement positive behaviour strategies: traffic light systems, sensory rooms, etc
- Integrate into new pupil groups
- Use Makaton, PECs and basic SALT to support speech
- Work in collaboration with external specialists
What you need to succeed
- Full “Right to Work” in the UK
- Referenceable experience supporting SEND
- Referenceable experience supporting children and young people
- Be willing to undergo an Enhanced Children’s DBS check
