Summary

We have an exciting internal opportunity for a Project Manager who has a biased towards energy initiatives, to take ownership of project delivery for the SMaRT Hub as a dedicated PM on their Sainsbury's contract. This role is pivotal in driving innovation, performance, and delivery of initiatives across the Sainsbury's estate.

As a point of contact for the Sainsbury's CEED (Engineering and Energy) and FM teams, you will ensure strong communication, governance, and performance management of all SMaRT Hub related projects. You will also lead the development of new concepts, first-stage trials, Proofs of Concept (PoCs), and full project rollouts-ensuring benefits are clearly defined, measured, and reported.

This role requires strong project management capability, commercial awareness, technical understanding, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum, depending on experience
  • Car Allowance: £5,549 per annum
  • Up to 10% bonus, depending on performance
  • Matched contribution Pension scheme of 4.5% up to 6%

  • Primary contact for Sainsbury's CEED and FM teams and project delivery oversight
  • Close collaboration with the Director of Technical Services
  • Gather Concepts, Innovation and Opportunities to improve service from the SMaRT Hub Subject Matter Experts, Third Party Suppliers and from attending Exhibition and shows
  • Present proposals, progress, costs, and performance data to stakeholders
  • Lead innovation, opportunities, trials, and PoCs across the Sainsbury's estate
  • Develop and manage project plans, budgets, governance, and reporting
  • Challenge business cases and ensure benefits are accurately measured
  • Coordinate internal teams, contractors, and suppliers
  • Monitor risks, performance, and compliance
  • Share project telemetry, costs, and environmental impact data
  • Support procurement, contract management, and continuous improvement
  • Keep the business informed of legislative and industry developments

Skills & Experience

  • Recognised Project Management qualification
  • Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Project Management (desirable)
  • 3+ years' project management experience, ideally within energy or FM/retail environments
  • Strong commercial, analytical, and stakeholder management skills
  • Confident presenter at senior level
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (macros, pivot tables)
  • Knowledge of energy systems, utilities, or sustainability preferred

Additional Information

  • Travel to sites and customers offices for meetings, audits, seminars, and industry events.
  • IPMVP training will be provided to ensure we provide the measurement and verification to a recognised standard for Sainsbury's.
