About the Role
- Female Support Worker
- Waking Nights
- 35 hours per week - 8pm -7am
- Newmarket, Suffolk
We're recruiting an experienced and compassionate Support Worker to join our team in Newmarket, supporting a woman in her mid-50s. This is a complex and rewarding role for someone who brings emotional resilience, maturity, and a deep understanding of behaviours of distress.
She communicates in her own expressive way, often using body language, facial expressions, and simple nouns. Her anxiety follows a cyclical pattern every 4-6 weeks, with heightened behaviours that require calm, consistent support. During these periods, she may struggle with sleep, become restless, and express distress. Staff need to be confident in recognising these signs and responding with empathy and structure.
Wake night support is delivered by female staff and involves working independently, offering one-to-one support during the night. Responsibilities include supporting with personal care routines, administering medication, maintaining a clean and calm environment, and providing emotional reassurance when needed.
The person you'll be supporting has a wide range of interests from puzzles and colouring to cooking, pampering sessions, and trips to the seaside, circus, and cinema. Her family plays an active and supportive role in her life and deeply values the contribution of her support team.
We're looking for someone with at least one year of experience supporting individuals with anxiety and complex behaviours. You'll need excellent communication skills, a person-centred approach, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing situations.
This is more than a job; it's a chance to make a difference in someone's life. This woman is kind and thrives with the right support.
