Summary
We are advertising for a 12 month fixed term Band 8A Senior Diagnostic Radiological Physicist post in Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation safety to cover maternity leave.
We are looking fora self-motivated and enthusiastic physicist with a few years of experience and a good background in Quality Assurance, optimisation and radiation protection/safety, to work within the Radiological Sciences Unit (RSU) at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
The successful candidate will join a friendly and dynamic team delivering scientific and technical support and radiation safety services to the Trust and a number of external organisations.
The post holder is expected to be a registered HCPC clinical scientist who will play a key role in procurement, acceptance, commissioning, optimisation and routine quality assurance of x-ray diagnostic equipment.
They will provide Medical Physics Expert support in Diagnostic Radiology and contribute to the development and optimisation of examination protocols, providing compliance with Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations legislation.
It would be an advantage if the applicant also has some teaching experience, as they will be supporting the Scientist Training Programme training and might be lecturing at MSc level.
• To act as the Senior Radiological Physicist for Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and other trusts covered by Service Level Agreements .
• To be responsible for the development and provision of highly complex and specialised radiological physics support and scientific and technical expertise to the trust and SLA customers.
• To act as the Medical Physics Expert for specified areas of work for the Trust and the Service Level Agreement customers.
• To plan, organise and implement integrated computer information systems for handling, analysing and interpreting Quality Assurance data and provide specialist expertise in the analysis of such data.
• To teach and train members of staff and update local policies to ensure the safety of patients and staff regarding the use of x-rays.
