The Environment Agency are fully committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve. We don't just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it, and live it, for the benefit of our staff, our communities, and our environment.
Would you like to be at the forefront of improving the environment? This is an exciting opportunity to work in our national Agricultural Remote Sensing Team.
Agricultural practices can cause significant and chronic pollution to our precious water environment. These can be caused by leaks of slurry and silage effluent, and other materials, stored and spread on farms. Working with colleagues, you will use GIS, aerial photography and other sources of evidence to identify potential risks to the environment posed by agriculture. This will be in the form of remote farm inspections using a range of aerial imagery and mapping tools. You will contact farmers remotely and communicate inspection findings with them, including taking relevant enforcement action.
We are looking for dynamic individuals, who like to innovate. The sector of remote sensing it constantly evolving with new technologies and approaches being developed on a regular basis. To this end we need some who can bring new ideas and approaches to help drive forward our abilities.
The team
The Remote Sensing Team sits in the Agriculture and Land team and is part of the Environment and Business (E&B) Directorate.
