About the role
As a Work Based Tutor (Supported Internships) you will manage and be responsible for a caseload of supported interns, taking them on a successful journey to achieve their planned learning programme and transition into sustained employment within the targeted timeframe.
Main Responsibilities:
• Co-ordinating the delivery of a transition to work programme for young adults with a learning disability based at the employer.
• Liaising effectively between college academy staff, employers, and the learner to ensure the achievement of the Supported Internship Programme.
• Undertaking initial assessments and ensure the development of individual learning plans in relation to the young person’s strengths, interests, and abilities related to skill acquisition, job development and employment.
• Delivering an employability curriculum whilst embedding maths and English and use skill training techniques to support young people’s development towards employability. Post holders will work closely with all parties to ensure interns are fully engaged with their learning and making appropriate steps towards employment.
• Seeking appropriate employment opportunities consistent with the student’s interests and skills and work with local industry and businesses to meet their employment needs.
• Determining and refer young people on the programme to appropriate support for services for training and successful employment.
• Maintaining student records in line with college and DFN systems, setting appropriate long-term goals and short-term targets with students based on participation, skills development and attitude. Review ILPs and associated targets regularly, ensuring their achievement
• Ensuring the College delivers an outstanding service to interns, as a Work Based Tutor you will be expected to take part in quality assurance and improvement activities in line with college policy.
• Ensuring that each Supported Intern is safe throughout their programme, liaising with the College’s Designated Safeguarding Practitioner team as required, and act as an advocate for equality, diversity, and inclusion.
• Engaging with relevant stakeholders to assist and support with completion of all relevant documentation and provide the link between college and employer.
• Promoting the take up of interns in line with the College Growth Strategy and to proactively sustain and develop the work-based business of the College in close consultation with the Academy Director for Pre-Technical and Skills for Living and Work.
• Coordinating internal rotation opportunities within the host business and resulting reasonable adjustments, and necessary job support for students.
• Coordinating travel training (when appropriate) on public transport or teach students to be able to access private travel independently
• Collect data on student outcomes, including jobs gained, wages, hours in line with college policy and DFN requirements
• Plan and implement twice termly employment planning meetings for each student participant with appropriate parties including adult services
• Scheduling, planning and implementing monthly written communication with parents and other parties
• Referring students to appropriate agencies for further support related to successful employment.
• Planning with students, families, and support services to determine career interests, specific job preferences, skills, and abilities to develop a personalised approach to learning.
What we can offer you
As the successful candidate, you will be offered a salary of between £32,523 - £36,566 per annum based upon a combination of the skills, knowledge and experience that you can bring to the role.
