Are you interested in a career in mental health dietetics?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Dietitian to join our team to further extend the dietetics service at Cygnet Forestwood CAMHS as to meet the needs of young people with Eating Disorder, Disordered Eating and weight management needs.

We are looking for a motivated Dietitian wanting to expand their skills, or learn new skills within a mental health inpatient setting. We will support you in developing the knowledge and skills you need to transition into the role.

What does the role involve?

Dietetics support needs will vary from promoting healthy eating, weight management, to supporting individuals with Eating Disorder and Disordered Eating. Service delivery may involve the provision of first line advice, 1:1 sessions with individuals, groups and staff education and training. Involvement in supporting the catering team in menu planning will also be required.

Candidates should be a Registered Dietitian, preferably with some experience of working in mental health orin-patient setting. A working knowledge of behaviour change approaches and motivational interviewing would be desirable.

You will be able to determine how to organise your time to meet the needs of the caseload within a Mental Health in-patient environment. You will also have the opportunity to participate in policy development, audit, research activities, pathway development, staff and student training at both a local and national level. You will work alongside another Registered Dietitian with experience in this field.

The successful candidate should be / have:

  • A degree / postgraduate diploma (or equivalent) in Dietetics, registration with HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and membership of the BDA (British Dietetic Association)

  • Able to meet the requirements of the Job Description

  • Experience in healthy eating promotion, weight management evidenced by sound clinical knowledge

  • Experience and or a strong interest in Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating is essential - we can provide support in developing skills in these areas

  • Evidence of being a strong team player with a genuine desire to help others

  • Excellent communication / time management skills

  • Enthusiasm, motivation and passion
