Summary
The EYES/ENT has an opening for a Band 3 HCA at Hillingdon and Mount Vernon Hospitals, as well as community clinics. The post holder will support the department. We seek experienced, motivated, and proactive individuals to join our team.
The HCA will aid the EYES/ENT department and outpatient teams, ensuring the smooth operation of our clinical services. Responsibilities include data entry, visual field testing, vision acuity, assisting nursing and professional bodies and general patient care and support. You will prepare patients, perform basic tests and procedures, and provide reports and evaluations for clinical review.
Our comprehensive ophthalmology services are provided by Ophthalmologists, Orthoptists, Optometrists, and Ophthalmic-trained nurses, covering general and specialty clinics such as Paediatrics, Ocular-motility, Botulinum Toxin, AMD, Diabetic, Glaucoma, Medical Retinal, Oculoplastic, and Corneal.

Our vision is to provide exceptional ophthalmic care through the comprehensive duties performed by our HCA’S. This includes visual acuity assessments, spectacle measurement using automated focimeters and visual fields testing. By performing these tests our HCA’s offer crucial analysis for the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of ocular conditions.
To align with our business development goals, our HCA’s follow local guidelines, protocols, and procedures, and undergo continuous training in ophthalmology procedures under the supervision of our registered Nurse’s. This training ensures readiness to operate any new ophthalmic equipment and procedures introduced through future service developments, following competency assessments. Through these practices, we strive to enhance the quality of our services and improve patient care.
The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.
