Summary

Hours: 31.8 hours per week, term time plus 5 Staff Development Days (2 day role – 12.72hrs per week term time plus 2 Staff Development Days)

We are looking to recruit Special Needs Teaching Assistants to join our dedicated team within our secondary communities. Our Academy based in Medway is a leading centre of excellence in the Special Education sector. We are looking to recruit Teaching Assistants who are passionate and experienced working with students with learning disabilities and complex needs wanting to make a difference to the students’ lives. For our primary community it would be ideal to have an early years background. You will be responsible for providing a dynamic range of support for students with a range of special educational needs both inside and out of the classroom. Students are aged from 4 – 19 years. You will ensure all students can thrive and fully develop their social, cognitive and emotional skills, working alongside the teacher to be a role model and guide; to motivate and enable all students to achieve whilst having high expectations for the behavioural and intellectual development of each learner. Within this position it is ideal if you are experienced and knowledgeable to work with learners with special needs; a relevant Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or early years certification and/or SEND qualifications would be advantageous from care, nursery or school based work. Previous experience working with moderate to complex learning difficulties within the 4 – 19 age range would be advantageous. Ideally to have ‘moving and handling’ knowledge and you must be willing to assist with any personal needs. You will have a great work ethic, patience with a calming presence and keen to be involved in all aspects of the academy community.
