Summary
Actively participate in the provision of a non invasive cardiac investigations service following a period of training in a broad range procedures following a period of training and assessment: To perform and interpret and the recording of electrocardiograms on adults and children. Application, removal and analysis of ambulatory ECG and BP equipment and confidently generate a comprehensive and accurate report. Lead exercise/treadmill testing with supervision from a senior. colleague, by preparing patient, accurately recording data and monitoring blood pressure and ECG signals. To be fully conversant with the emergency cardiac arrest procedure including defibrillation and maintaining concentration and composure in highly stressful situations. Assist senior colleagues with pacemaker follow-up checks. Record patient diagnostic and management information using manual, and computer based systems. Maintain accurate and legible patient records in line with department SOP Recognise technical/equipment faults and take steps to correct them following the departmental SOP Ensure all equipment is operated safely, cleaned and stored according to department SOP. Arrange technical support for repairs and or maintenance when necessary. Assist with day to day administration Deal with patient enquiries over the telephone and in person. Distribute results and reports to GP and Consultants. Maintain adequate stock levels of consumables used within their area, receive and store new stock appropriately. Provide training and support to undergraduate trainees, nursing staff and medical students. Assist senior colleagues in the introduction and evaluation of new equipment and technology. Assist senior colleagues in the updating and development of policies relating to their practice.
