Crynodeb
Prestbury Golf Club is an exclusive private members club based in Cheshire. The Club is an England Golf Championship venue and host to the 2026 England Girls Championship. The original course was opened in 1920 and designed by Harry Colt before being updated extensively in 2022 by Mackenzie and Ebert.
Apprentice greenkeeper role to work alongside 11 other members of staff learning all aspects of golf course maintenance as part of the The Golf Greenkeeper Standard for approximately 24 months.
Duties will be:
Bunker maintenance.
Strimming.
Divotting.
Hand mowing of greens, tees and approaches.
Ball collections on our 27 acre practice facility.
Upkeep of gardens and car parks.
The apprenticeship comprises of 10 core topic areas which will cover both knowledge and skills:
Health and safety
Plant and grass identification
Identification and control of weeds, pests, diseases and turf disorders
Plant and soil science
Turf maintenance
Plant nutrition
Machinery operation and maintenance
Environment and ecology
Irrigation and drainage
Course rules and etiquette

They must have integrity and honesty.
Be willing to work outside in all weather conditions.
Be willing to learn new skills.
A basic understanding of the game of golf is preferred but not essential.
Desired qualifications
GCSE’s, or equivalents in maths and English are desired but not essential.
Driving license is preferred but not essential
Future Progression
Possibility of a employment if a suitable role is available.
Training:
Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Sports Turf or Golf Green Keeping Business Administration Apprenticeship
The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
