We are seeking an outstanding HLTA / Senior Learning Mentor (Level 4) to support our pupils, lead interventions and contribute to a safe, structured and engaging learning environment.
About the Role
Working closely with the Student Services Manager, teachers, therapists and external services, you will:

Lead and deliver pastoral and SEND support across the centre

Provide 1:1 mentoring, emotional support and behaviour regulation

Deliver whole-group sessions: Literacy, Numeracy, PSHE/RSE, Outdoor Learning, Therapeutic Interventions and Day 6 provision

Support pupils with reintegration, attendance and behaviour
-
Complete assessments and implement personalised plans (SEND, ILPs, behaviour plans)

Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils

Provide progress feedback, reports and behaviour/attendance data

Liaise with families, partner schools and professionals
-
Contribute to safeguarding, risk assessments and behaviour systems

Support educational visits and off-site learning
-
Organise learning environments and ensure safe working practices

Lead and supervise Learning Mentors and support performance management
Person Specification (Manchester City Council Standards)
Essential Experience & Qualifications-
Proven experience supporting young people with SEND, SEMH, behavioural needs or complex learning difficulties

Strong understanding of additional needs and barriers to learning
-
Numeracy and literacy at NQF Level 2

NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent qualification/experience

Ability to take on HLTA-level responsibilities

Ability to relate well to children and adults
-
Understanding of multi-agency roles and support structures
-
Ability to use school-based technology confidently
-
Knowledge of the national curriculum and learning programmes
-
Strong understanding of child development, learning processes and behaviour strategies

Ability to plan effective interventions for underachieving pupils

Understanding of support services, legislation and safeguarding practices
-
Strong organisational, communication and reporting skills

Willingness to engage in continuous professional development

Willingness to undertake first aid training
