Neway International are seeking a Building Maintenance Officer – Housing to join our client Wrexham County Borough Council.
Location: Ruthin Road, Wrexham, Wrexham Principal Area, LL13 7TU.
Hours: 37 per week
Start Date: 22 December 2025 - ongoing contract
Pay Rates: PAYE £19.20 per hour / Limited/Umbrella £27.57 per hour

The Role
As Building Maintenance Officer, you will act as the Lead Officer for the Housing department, managing complex claims and ensuring compliance across housing maintenance activities. You will be responsible for investigating disrepair and personal injury claims, preparing reports for insurers and solicitors, and managing contractors delivering remedial works. This role requires strong analytical skills, legal awareness, and the ability to act as an Expert Witness in court proceedings.
Key Responsibilities
Lead on the management of housing disrepair, personal injury, statutory nuisance, and tenant compensation claims
Undertake detailed specialist surveys of dwellings and prepare contract specifications
Manage contractors to ensure remedial works meet quality and compliance standards
Investigate claims thoroughly, conducting interviews and preparing detailed reports for insurers and solicitors
Act as Instructing Officer in settlement negotiations for housing disrepair and personal injury claims
Monitor and report on damp-related issues within housing stock, identifying trends for senior management
Serve as designated Expert Witness, attending court and preparing disclosure documentation, witness statements, and legal files
Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements across all housing maintenance activities
Candidate Requirements
Extensive experience in housing maintenance and claims management
Strong knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements in housing
Ability to analyse data and make decisions in complex situations
Experience preparing detailed reports and managing legal processes
Proven ability to manage contractors and ensure quality standards
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Confidence to act as Expert Witness in court proceedings
