Summary

CSWIP 3.2 SENIOR WELD INSPECTOR

You will play a key role as part of the Quality Department in checking/monitoring in-house fabrications and sub-assemblies going through the manufacturing process against the relevant documented specification.

Inspect both the work produced in primarily the fabrication shop and occasionally in other departments of the company

The ideal candidate will have an advanced knowledge and experience of Fabrication / Welding (within Energy sector advantageous)

Evaluate and interpret reports from various non-destructive testing methods.

Knowledge of welding procedures, welder approvals, and various welding defects

Understanding of steel metallurgy is required.

Must be able to work to, and ensure compliance with, complex specifications and standards

Ability to read and interpret technical fabrication drawings.

Maintaining product traceability and compliance to required standards. Good IT skills (excel, Word) producing inspection reports for products clearly highlighting any potential / actual non-conformances.

Be highly motivated, flexible, responsive to change and calm under pressure.

You will encourage positive, open discussion on any deficiencies, safety and quality specifications, making recommendations to improve processes and methods where identified.

Role Description

Responsible for Setting of the quality/welding standards within the department and ensuring quality is maintained
Raising NDT Reports
Check weld setups
Dimensional Check Tack up & Final Fabrications for release
Achieve high efficiency (planned versus actual hours) for department
Ensuring welding procedures and training/testing of staff for required materials used is constantly reviewed and updated
Ensure documentation completed for all work carried out I.E weld mapping, WPS creation, History Sheets, Consumable control, all setting and weld data for traceability etc.
Complete all necessary documentation is in place according to the requirements
Ensure job tasks are carried out safely using good working practices targeting zero lost time accidents
Ensure systems maintained ready for Audits
Qualifications & Skills

Experience working in both manufacturing and off-site environments
RWC (Responsible Weld Coordinator) would need or gain via TWI Interview
Comprehensive

CSWIP 3.2 Minimum
Experience working within a lead/supervisory role
Trained on all aspects of welding equipment
Knowledge of ASME, BS Standards
Accuracy & Discretion
Being able to Read Technical Drawings
Teamwork & Motivation
Computer Skill (MS Software)
Please note those not qualified to CSWIP 3.2 need not apply.



Daily Functions

Basic duties on a daily/weekly basis, obviously this will expand to capture company requirements as and when they arise

Creating Project documentation, Welding, NDT Documentation , data logging etc
Management of Welding Qualifications
Generating new Welding Techniques
Conduct Internal Audits of welders and procedures
Perform visual inspection on welded products and structures in progress and completed jobs
Perform Dimensional Checks and Weld Setups
Ensure welders adhere to health and safety regulations
Ensure Welder are working within the range of WPS.
Ensure quality documents are recorded correctly and kept up to date
Identify material specifications are correct and maintain traceability
Assist with completion of technical specification packs
Responsible for final quality inspections and sign off approvals
Attend on site installation projects to assist with inspection duties when required


The above position offers a basic 38-hour week (early finish on a Friday), salary dependent on experience, 23 days annual holiday allowance, excluding Bank Holidays + birthday leave + wellbeing day + Christmas Eve, contributory pension scheme, life assurance and occupational health screening.
