We're looking for a resourceful, well organised graduate intern to join the Student Recruitment and Widening Participation team at our award-winning campus in York. You’ll join a busy, purposeful environment at the University of the Year for Social Inclusion in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025.
The Team
The Student Recruitment and Widening Participation teams are key teams within the University. Student Recruitment staff play a key part in selling York St John University to potential domestic students, through school visits, organising large and small events to promote the University and travelling around the UK to recruitment events. Managing relationships with schools and colleges is a key part of what the team do.
The Widening Participation Team work with identified key groups of potential students who are known to be unrepresented in Higher Education, promoting opportunities, raising aspirations and in the process helping people to reach their potential.
The Role
This role plays a key part in making sure that the two teams are supported in their work. Working with the Student Ambassador Coordinator, they will help us to manage our large group of student ambassadors, ensuring that can run our events smoothly and with the correct staffing. Responding to queries from internal stakeholders and ensuring smooth communication with external stakeholders and potential students, helping to organise out many on campus events will also be key elements of this varied role.
Required skills and experience
Excellent communication, planning, interpersonal, and organisational skills,
Skills in information technology, including experience of MS office, database and web packages
Ability to think and work independently, creatively and use initiative at events frequently held off campus, and able to follow set policy's and procedures
