The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting secondary-aged students with a range of special educational needs. Working closely with the class teacher, you will help deliver personalised learning activities, provide targeted support, and create an encouraging and inclusive learning environment. This role is ideal for someone patient, proactive, and dedicated to helping students reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons.
Provide one-to-one and small group support to students, tailored to individual needs.
Assist with monitoring and recording students' progress, including EHCP-related goals.
Work collaboratively with the teaching team to maintain a positive and supportive classroom environment.
Help foster a nurturing, safe, and inclusive atmosphere that promotes student confidence and engagement.
Key Requirements
Experience working with children or young people (school-based experience desirable).
Strong communication, numeracy, and IT skills.
Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
A compassionate, patient, and resilient approach to supporting students with SEN.
A strong understanding of how to create a safe and engaging learning environment.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience working with neurodiverse learners or students with additional needs.
Knowledge of personalised learning strategies and behaviour support techniques.
A flexible, student-centred approach with a focus on well-being and progress.
