Campervan Fitter / Conversion Technician

Location: Brunswick, Newcastle upon Tyne
Employment type: Full-time (Permanent)
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Hours: 9am - 5pm (Or can be changed to suit your preference)

About Us:

We are a specialist campervan conversion company dedicated to transforming ordinary vans into high-quality, fully equipped adventure vehicles. Our work combines craftsmanship, creativity, and attention to detail to deliver custom-built campervans that inspire freedom and exploration. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Campervan Fitter / Conversion Technician to join our friendly, professional team.

Role Overview:

As a Campervan Fitter, you will play a key role in the full conversion process — from initial strip-out and preparation to final fit and quality checks. You’ll work with a range of materials and systems, including carpentry, electrical, and plumbing, to produce high-quality campervans that meet our company’s standards for safety, durability, and design.

Key Responsibilities:

Vehicle Preparation
Strip out existing interiors, remove seating, and prepare base vehicles for conversion.
Carry out surface preparation, cleaning, and minor repairs as needed before installation begins.

Insulation and Lining

Install insulation and soundproofing materials.
Fit wall panels, ceilings, and flooring for comfort and thermal efficiency.

Furniture and Interior Fit-Out

Build, modify, and install bespoke campervan furniture (cupboards, beds, seating, storage units).
Use a range of hand and power tools to achieve precise, high-quality finishes.

Electrical Installation

Install 12V and 240V electrical systems, including lighting, sockets, inverters, and leisure batteries.
Connect and test appliances such as fridges, cookers, and chargers in accordance with safety standards.

Plumbing and Water Systems

Fit water pumps, sinks, and waste systems.
Install and test plumbing for kitchen and wash areas.

Windows, Roofs, and Accessories

Fit windows, roof vents, skylights, awnings, and other accessories.
Seal and waterproof installations to ensure durability.

Finishing and Detailing

Apply trims, sealants, and finishing touches to ensure a professional appearance.
Perform paint touch-ups or aesthetic detailing as required.

Testing and Quality Control

Inspect and test all systems and installations before handover.
Complete quality assurance checks to company standards.

Maintenance and Repairs

Carry out servicing, repairs, and upgrades on existing campervans.
Diagnose and resolve electrical or plumbing faults.

Health & Safety

Adhere to workshop safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain awareness of relevant safety legislation and best practices.

Customer Interaction

Occasionally liaise with customers to discuss specifications, progress, or post-build support.
Represent the company professionally at all times.

Workshop Duties

Keep the workspace organized, clean, and well-maintained.
Assist with stock control, deliveries, and general workshop upkeep.

Skills & Experience Required

-Previous experience in campervan, motorhome, caravan, boat, or vehicle conversion (preferred).
-Competent in joinery, electrical, or plumbing work — multi-skilled background desirable.
-Strong practical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to read and work from technical drawings and plans.
-Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
-Full UK driving licence (preferred).
-Commitment to high standards of workmanship and customer satisfaction.

What We Offer

Competitive salary and opportunities for overtime.
Supportive, friendly team environment.
Ongoing training and skill development.
Opportunity to work on exciting, bespoke projects.
Staff discounts and potential progression into senior fitter or team leader roles.
