Summary of what the candidate must have to apply:

Strong analytical ability.
Solid Excel skills.
Experience reviewing leases is preferred.
Understanding of service charges and admin unit code structures is ideal.

The role: Brent Council manages over 4,000 leases but does not yet hold a complete digital record. As part of an NEC data cleanse, a review of lease information, service charges and admin unit codes is required.

You will review at least one lease from each of the 458 blocks and 456 TP1 homes. Leases must be downloaded from HM Land Registry, checked and key details entered into a set template.

You will record items such as property reference, address, estate and block details, tenure, lease start and term, rent and charges at commencement, service charge arrangements, repair and insurance responsibilities, sinking fund and staircasing provisions.

This phase is expected to take around three months and will produce a database of roughly 1,000 reviewed leases. Some documents may be complex or incomplete. Follow-on work may be required to support the wider service charge and admin unit structure review.

Key accountabilities:

Download, review and extract data from lease documents.
Record all required details accurately in the provided template.
Support creation of a reliable lease database.
Identify risks, gaps and inconsistencies for escalation.
Assist subsequent service charge and admin unit code review work as required.

Requirements/key criteria:

Strong analytical skills and accuracy.
Proficient Excel user.
Experience reviewing leases (preferred).
Understanding of service charges and admin unit code hierarchies (advantageous).
Able to handle high-volume document work with attention to detail.
