This is a permanent contract, 37 hours per week, 41 weeks per year (term time plus inset plus 2 weeks) (0.9021 FTE). Starting salary is dependent on experience. Please see the job description for details of the flexible arrangement for additional working weeks.
Severn Vale School is an Academy which provides an inclusive secondary education for students aged 11-16, that delivers strong student outcomes through high quality teaching and outstanding pastoral care. The school is proud of its inclusive credentials and, in an area that has retained selection, subscribe instinctively to the comprehensive ideal. We are a popular and over-subscribed single academy trust with 1350 students on roll.
We require a Head of Year to join our Pastoral Team. The role involves providing pastoral care and monitoring behavior, attendance and well-being of a specific year group. This key role will focus on helping students to overcome barriers, so they can improve their attainment, progress, conduct and personal development, enabling them to fulfil their potential as a learner and as an individual.
We are proud of our pastoral provision; it is integral to the success of the school. You will work closely with our school community, including Senior Leadership Team, Attendance, Safeguarding and Inclusion Teams, in addition to forging strong links with our students, their families and external agencies. You will ‘go the extra mile’ to ensure that we provide the very best support for our students. We want someone with very high expectations who loves working with young people and is ambitious to see them achieve. You will be a resilient team player with a can-do attitude, will be flexible, organised and able to use your own initiative and problem-solve. If you have worked in schools before this is an advantage but is not a requirement.
