Renfrewshire Council is looking for suitable candidates to join our Clerical Assistant supply register, to ensure an effective clerical support service is provided to our stakeholders and customers in schools. We are looking for well organised individuals, who can work at short notice, to provide cover for short term absences, as and when required, to ensure we can maintain an effective clerical support service to our stakeholders and customers within frontline schools across Renfrewshire. These arrangements are temporary, for the duration of the required cover. The normal shift working hours is from 08.30 until 16.00, with a 30 mins unpaid break.
You will be working in a public-facing office, and you will be a key member of the school’s team, engaging directly with young people, parents and carers, teaching and support staff, and stakeholders and partners. Your role here will be highly varied, requiring you to rapidly adapt your style as you deal with enquiries from parents and carers, young children and head teachers all in a matter of minutes. You will be a valued member of the school’s team, working to provide the best education and support we can, to give our young people the opportunity to realise their full potential.
It is essential you have effective customer services skills; effective organisational and time management skills; have clerical experience within an ‘office type’ environment; be able to work to deadlines and respond to last minute requests or changes within a process driven environment; can demonstrate a track record of being a team player; have experience using ICT systems for data input, reporting, email and using Microsoft Office for word processing and finance recording; complete tasks to a high quality and be accurate particularly when handling cash; have literacy and numeracy skills, be sensitive and discreet when dealing with confidential information; be focused working in an environment with background noise and regular interruptions and be committed to providing pastoral care for children.
It is desirable that you have experience of working in schools, using standard systems for procurement, HR and finance, as well as school’s systems and processes.
Renfrewshire Council uses an online supply booking system called Teacher Booker, to manage all supply cover bookings for schools. If you get approved for supply work and are placed on the supply register, you will be invited to register on the Teacher Booker system.
An SVQ level 2 in Business Administration or equivalent is also desirable.
If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post. If you would like further information in relation to the Disclosure Scotland checks, please visit www.disclosurescotland.co.uk.
