A Vacancy at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
This is an exciting opportunity for a 12 month fixed term post as the ward manager for 7 North to cover maternity leave. 7 North is an exciting fast paced ward specialising in General Surgery, urology and includes the Surgical Assessment Area.
The successful post holder will be joining a fully established team with support from Matron and Clinical Practice Educator. Full training will be given alongside support. As ward manager the post holder will be responsible for the day to day running of the ward supporting patient flow and staff development and retention.
The post will incorporate the senior leadership role dimensions of expert clinical practice, education, leadership, management, and research. The post holder will be a highly skilled member of the nursing team responsible for all aspects of patient care including the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of a high standard of care to patients and their families.
The post holder will be liaising with the Matron and Surgical assessment area (SAU) team to ensure utilisation and service development.
The Ward Manager will be required to:
· To liaise with all key members of the multidisciplinary team to advise and support colleagues in the delivery of care across multiple specialities
To take overall responsibility for ensuring safe staffing levels and the monitoring of planned versus actual staffing levels
· To contribute to the facilitation of the planning, delivery, and evaluation of care pathways for patients attending the unit
· To focus on patient and colleague feedback to change and drive forward service improvements using the quality improvement methodology where appropriate
· Contribute to the ongoing training and education development within the unit, ensuring mandatory training and appraisal requirements are met
· Act as a visible role model and expert practitioner
The post holder will engage fully with the developmental aspects of the role, seeking help and support when necessary
