This is a fantastic time to join an ambitious, innovative and award-winning Planning Service.

We are looking for a motivated, experienced and dynamic Ecology Team Leader to help us establish our growing ecology team.

You will act as the Councils lead specialist on ecology and biodiversity, provide expert advice for a wide range of planning applications and strategic regeneration projects, as well as help progress planning policy documents.

You will have the opportunity to develop and build strong partnerships with a wide range of organisations at national, regional, and local levels to ensure biodiversity is embedded appropriately in new development in the district.

We are looking for an experienced ecologist with:
A relevant degree (and chartered membership of CIEEM or equivalent)
Strong knowledge of ecological legislation, biodiversity net gain, and planning processes
Significant experience working in ecology, including advising on planning applications
Excellent communication, organisational, and conflict-resolution skills
The ability to support and develop staff, manage budgets, and represent the Council at formal examinations or inquiries
You will also be committed to continuous professional development and helping us drive service improvement.
