Role Purpose
To install, test, commission, maintain, and repair electrical systems to current standards and regulations, delivering excellent workmanship and customer service on every job. The role includes work on fire alarm and CCTV systems and opportunities to develop in EV charging and Solar PV & battery storage.
Key Responsibilities
-Carry out electrical installation, maintenance, fault‑finding and repair in domestic, commercial and industrial settings.
-Inspect, test, and certify works in line with current BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and company procedures.
-Diagnose and rectify electrical faults efficiently with clear communication to clients/site leads.
-Install, commission, and maintain fire detection & alarm systems and CCTV (training provided where required).
-Install and commission EV charge points and Solar PV & battery storage systems (where qualified/experienced).
-Read and work from drawings, schedules, and method statements; provide as‑built information where needed.
-Ensure safe systems of work: risk assessments, method statements, permits to work, and lock‑out/tag‑out as applicable.
-Maintain tools, test equipment, and company vehicle to a high standard; keep accurate job records and certificates.
-Liaise professionally with customers, site managers, and team members; support apprentices when required.
-Adhere to all company policies including health & safety, environmental, and quality management.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
-Time‑served electrician with minimum 5 years’ experience post‑qualification.
-NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation and AM2 (or equivalent final assessment).
-18th Edition (BS 7671) and strong knowledge of current electrical regulations.
-Proven experience in maintenance and repair of electrical systems and strong troubleshooting skills.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team with excellent communication and organisational skills.
-Competent user of test equipment and documentation (e.g., EIC, EICR, Minor Works).
