We’re seeking a passionate driven Careers Information, Advice and Guidance (CIAG) Adviser to join our team within a custodial setting. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference by empowering individuals in prison to develop the skills, confidence and aspirations needed for a fresh start. Through tailored career coaching, workshops and personalised action plans, you will help participants envision and work towards brighter futures beyond custody.

This role is more than just a job it’s a chance to transform lives, reduce reoffending and contribute to stronger communities. You’ll work directly with individuals to support their career development and future planning, offering guidance on education, training and employment opportunities as they prepare for reintegration into society.

We’re seeking a confident, compassionate and adaptable individual who can thrive in a custodial environment and bring a person centred approach to their work. You should be resilient and empathetic, with a genuine desire to support others in making positive changes. Whether you have experience in careers guidance or looking for a purposeful next step in your career, this role offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable engaging with job centres, employers and community organisations to identify and recruit adult learners. You’ll be skilled in conducting eligibility checks and initial assessments, matching individuals to suitable courses and providing impartial advice and guidance to both learners and their support networks. An understanding of welfare needs and career development is essential, along with the ability to promote learning opportunities.

In return for your dedication, knowledge, and commitment, we’re offering a competitive salary range £26,000 To £ 29,000 (dependent on experience) with these great benefits:

Key Responsibilities
• Manage a prisoner caseload, supporting the achievement of personal and team targets.
• Record all interactions with prisoners on relevant Justice systems, updating case notes.
• Documenting advice and goals in an agreed Learning and Work Plan with SMART goals and actions.
• Meet, and strive to exceed, personal performance targets (Key Performance Indicators) relating to the number of prisoners seen, reviews undertaken and the number of prisoners moving forward in work and/or learning.
• Work flexibly across different prisons to support continuity of service.
• Attend custody meetings and where required travel to external events and training.

• High level of initiative and motivation with the ability to seek out solutions to problems
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently,
• Accountable for own professional development and to undertake necessary training as identified in the Performance Review process
