Additional salary information: Starting salary is £38,443 with the maximum salary on this scale being £43,934 subject to future COPFS pay awards. All payments are pro rata for part-time staff. Please note, there is an additional IT allowance of £5,000, which is payable on top of the starting salary.

Summary

About the Role:
We are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to join our specialist team, protecting COPFS networks and sensitive information from evolving threats. Based at the Crown Office in Edinburgh, this role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge security technologies and standards, including the Microsoft 365 E5 security suite (Defender XDR and Sentinel).

You will bring strong technical expertise alongside strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Working closely with colleagues across the Information Services Division, you will help build, monitor, and configure systems, tools, and processes to strengthen COPFS’ security posture. This is a challenging but rewarding role where you will support transformational change and contribute to a dynamic, forward-thinking team with a positive ethos. While the role is primarily home-based, you will receive comprehensive training and ongoing support, including formal development opportunities from Microsoft and other providers.

This position offers variety, professional growth, and the chance to build a career within the Civil Service while gaining essential skills and experience in the cybersecurity field.
