Your Purpose

We have an exciting opportunity to join our growing Site Team as a Painting & Coating Specialist. Reporting to the Site Director, you will be responsible for the entire hull and structures painting process (underwater area, outdoor areas, tanks and cofferdam, ventilation trunks, bilge etc.) from steel preparation to process completion and final areas delivery. The Painting and Coating Specialist provides technical support throughout the drawing and painting process approval stages. Acting as the primary point of contact for all painting and coating–related matters, you will coordinate between site-team stakeholders, the shipyard, contractors, and the technical office to ensure quality and consistency across all activities. When required, you will also supervise the resins preparation and laying on balconies and other internal or external decks.
Your Impact

• Oversees the hull and structures painting, providing supervision and acceptance to any painting and coating process and approves painting procedures and steel & surfaces preparation with the shipyard, providing support to drawing approval;
• Supervises all topics related to hull painting, described in the relevant technical specifications and any other linked documents;
• Monitors the daily activities of subcontractors and builder workers, resolving issues that may arise during the inspections, with the support of the site and technical offices;
• Liaises with the painting maker and its representatives to jointly assess the environmental conditions before paint application, especially during the dry-dock stay before vessels delivery.
• Ensures that all the surfaces inspected and verified meet the quality standards requirements and have been designed and engineered correctly;
• Ensures that the painting process has been done taking into consideration future maintenance and repairs (i.e. tanks);
• Ensures that remarks, defects and other non-conformities identified from past projects, or from Vessels operation will be addressed to the builder, as part of lesson learned process;
• Works with the Head of Shipbuilding and the Site Director to prepare documents for the protocol of delivery, and provide weekly detailed reports re the activities performed;
• Highlights relevant aspects of the ship’s design that can be improved for future constructions.
Your Journey so far

• Significant experience running inspections in shipyards for activities of shipbuilding or refurbishment; some experience in leading a team is a plus.
• Must hold a NACE or FROSIO license, and/or a significant experience on the field.
• Ability to review new building specifications and drawings.
• Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office (including Excel, MS Word, MS Project or equivalent and PowerPoint).
• Ability to work in a cross cultural environment and communicate with internal/external stakeholders at all level.
Your Essentials

• Right to work in Italy and to travel within the EU
• Fluency in English, knowledge of Italian is a plus.
