Salary: £35.46 per hour PAYE with accrued holiday and pension contribution

Hours: 36.2 hours per week Monday-Friday

Role length: 2 months opening assignment

Job type: On-site

The role: You will lead the delivery of a modern, effective and customer-focused property maintenance service. The post manages responsive repairs, complex cases such as disrepair, damp and mould, plus voids and day-to-day maintenance. You will drive service improvement, commercial efficiency, legal compliance and strong customer satisfaction.



Key Responsibilities:

Manage the Responsive Repairs Team and all related functions, ensuring repairs are completed to a high standard and in line with service expectations.
Oversee disrepair, damp and mould cases and other complex repairs, ensuring swift and robust resolution.
Maintain commercial oversight of repairs and voids work across tenanted and empty homes, including contracted arrangements.
Push continuous improvement, using innovation and alternative solutions to increase value and quality.
Embed high performance, productivity and customer service standards across the team.
Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and statutory requirements, including H&S and CDM.
Manage strategic risk within the service and keep tenants well informed about standards and reactive repairs performance.
Lead a mixed team of team leaders, chargehands, operatives, back-office staff and partner contractors.
Develop quotes, tenders and bids to expand the service into new internal and external markets.
Manage and develop a network of subcontractors.
Support wider council objectives, including emergency response when required.



What the client is looking for:

Strong background in repairs and maintenance management within housing or a similar environment.
Proven ability to lead teams delivering responsive repairs and complex casework.
Solid understanding of compliance requirements, including H&S and CDM.
Commercially minded with experience improving value for money and service efficiency.
Clear communicator able to build productive working relationships with staff, tenants and contractors.
Confident managing performance, driving standards and pushing service improvement.





Desirable:

Experience delivering service change programmes.
Track record of successful tendering, quoting or business development in repairs or maintenance services.
Knowledge of local government processes.
