Summary

You will be joining a busy sleep physiology service based across 5 sites in Ashford, Canterbury, Dover, Folkestone and Margate. We are a friendly welcoming team who enjoy working together and supporting each other. We have links with a number of local universities, including Canterbury Christ Church University and Kent and Medway Medical School. The sleep physiology team are passionate about supporting staff development identified via regular supportive one to ones and the appraisal process.

You will work as an effective team member by taking responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the day to day care provided to patients, whether this be diagnostic or therapeutic.

The day to day aspects of the role requires that you will be able to prioritise your own workload, work independently supervise the work of others and utilise highly developed interpersonal skills to work effectively across professional and organisational boundaries.

Working autonomously as an advanced practitioner within the sleep physiology service you will be responsible for providing good quality diagnostic respiratory sleep studies, analysis and reporting, following

local, national and international guidance. You will be responsible for leading the sleep physiology service team with this.

At times you will partake in the service’s “one stop” sleep clinics, undertaking initial consultations where you would undertake comprehensive assessments of patients referred to the service, including for medical, functional, social and mental status. Facts and findings from assessment tools may be complex or confusing and sound skills of analysis and interpretation are required in order to make appropriate judgments. You will develop individualised patient-centred care plans and coordinate their implementation. You will ensure that care and support provided is evidence based. You will be highly competent to an advanced level in the use of APAP.
