Electrical Design Engineer

Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 DOE
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: Monday–Thursday 07:30–16:00, Friday 07:30–12:30 (early finish)

Overview

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team working on high-integrity, technically challenging projects. The successful candidate will take ownership of electrical system design, documentation, and compliance, ensuring all solutions meet stringent technical and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop robust electrical design solutions for a range of complex engineering projects.


  • Produce high-quality technical documentation including performance calculations, test plans, compliance reports, and component selection justifications.


  • Design low voltage power distribution systems, control panels, component layouts, and electrical schematics.


  • Work with mechanical design engineers to create fully integrated and validated project solutions.


  • Support testing and automation processes, including the preparation of test plans.


  • Ensure all design processes, approvals, and mitigations are completed in accordance with project requirements.


  • Provide hands-on engineering input where required.


    Required Skills & Experience

    • Degree qualified or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering.


    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Control Panel Design and/or Low Voltage Power Distribution.


    • Strong electrical system design capability, including component selection and system configuration.


    • Knowledge of Variable Speed Drives, motor starter panels, distribution systems, and PLC-based systems.


    • Experience producing detailed design documentation and technical justification.


    • Practical, hands-on engineering experience is essential.


      Desirable Skills

      • Experience with Control & Instrumentation systems.


      • Proficiency in E-Plan (highly desirable).


      • Experience with SolidWorks Electrical is advantageous.


      • Other CAD software experience will be considered; full training can be provided for suitable candidates.


        General Requirements

        • Able to work effectively as part of a team and independently.


        • Strong communication and documentation skills.


        • Must meet strict security clearance criteria:
          You must be a British National with no dual nationality.
