Project Overview
You will join the team for a school build in Southampton, valued at approximately £2 million. This is a hands-on site role overseeing subcontractors, liaising with the school, and ensuring high standards of safety, quality and client satisfaction.

Site Manager Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on site execution of the school construction project, managing all day to day site activities


  • Communicate effectively with the client (school), subcontractors and internal teams to ensure smooth delivery


  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety procedures, including risk assessments, method statements and site inspections


  • Monitor progress against programme, budgets and quality standards


  • Coordinate subcontractor work, materials and site logistics


  • Prepare and deliver regular reports on progress, issues and mitigation plans


  • Ensure all site documentation (permitting, site records, safety logs) is maintained accurately


  • Act as the main point of contact for the school, supply chain and other stakeholders


  • Promote and enforce a safety first culture on site


    Site Manager Criteria

    Experience and Qualifications

    • Proven experience as a Site Manager or Site Agent on construction projects, ideally with experience in education or school builds


    • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and practice (for example SMSTS, First Aid or equivalent)


    • Must hold relevant tickets and certifications such as CSCS, SMSTS and First Aid appropriate for site management


    • Strong technical construction knowledge with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications and construction methods


    • Computer literate with experience using site and project management software as well as good Microsoft Office skills

      • Excellent communication and stakeholder management, especially with clients, school leadership and subcontractors


      • Strong leadership and team management ability


      • Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines


      • Problem solving mindset with commercial awareness
