About Us

British Creative Institute (BCI) is a specialist post-16 independent learning provider offering creative media courses to young people aged 16–25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Our curriculum includes Photography, TV Production, Games Design, Digital Marketing, Graphic Design, and Life Skills — all delivered in a nurturing, inclusive environment that promotes personal growth and creativity.

We are seeking a Specialist Teacher with experience and understanding of progressive educational psychology and inclusive teaching strategies. The ideal candidate will foster confidence, independence, and creativity in learners with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging sessions based on Dweck’s Growth Mindset, reinforcing effort over outcome and teaching learners that setbacks are part of learning.

Apply Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) by providing continuous scaffolding — guiding learners from supported 1:1 work to independent tasks as confidence grows.

Implement Piaget’s Constructivist principles, encouraging exploration, experimentation, and hands-on creative learning experiences.

Deliver sessions tailored to SEND learners aged 16–25, both on-site and online.

Create differentiated resources to meet individual learning plans and Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Collaborate with support staff, therapists, and the SEN team to ensure holistic progress.

Maintain records of learning outcomes, attendance, and personal development.

Essential Skills and Experience

Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, QTLS, Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training).

Experience teaching learners with SEND (Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or related needs).

Strong understanding of inclusive pedagogy and adaptive learning strategies.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Confidence in both classroom-based and hybrid delivery.

Desirable

Experience in creative media, digital skills, or personal and social development teaching.

Experience supporting students transitioning to adulthood and employment.

What We Offer

Flexible working hours and hybrid delivery options.

Supportive, inclusive environment with small class sizes.

Opportunities for professional development and CPD.

Meaningful work shaping the future of young adults with SEND.
