Summary
Our client, a well-respected educational institution in Exeter, Devon, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. As a key member of our client's educational staff, the SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. The primary responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant will include:
- Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs
- Assisting in the development and implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs)
- Adapting learning materials and resources to meet the specific needs of each student
- Monitoring and recording student progress, and communicating regularly with teachers and parents
- Encouraging student participation in classroom activities and promoting a positive learning atmosphere
- Assisting with personal care needs, such as toileting and hygiene, when necessary
To excel in this role, the ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- A minimum of NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g. , education, childcare, or social work)
- Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities
- A patient, empathetic, and approachable demeanour
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required
