Summary
As a Band 5 Staff Nurse in the Gynaecology Outpatients Department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to women attending for investigations, treatments, and consultations. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support patients through their outpatient journey, ensuring safety, dignity, and compassion at all times.
You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care, while supporting patients with a range of gynaecological conditions including fertility issues, menstrual disorders, early pregnancy complications, and oncology follow-ups. You will assist in clinics, minor procedures, and diagnostic investigations, ensuring infection control and safeguarding standards are upheld.
This role requires excellent communication skills, clinical competence, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will also contribute to service improvement initiatives, patient education, and support junior staff and students.
• To provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to women attending Gynaecology outpatient services, ensuring safe and effective clinical practice in line with Trust values and national standards.
• The post holder will be expected to liaise appropriately with all key members of the multidisciplinary team and service users related to the specialty.
• To support the Charge Nurse/Senior Sister to monitor the safety and quality of care for patients.
• In the absence of the Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to be responsible for the day-to-day management of the department
• To manage a group of Nursing Assistants and assign delegated tasks and responsibility as appropriate.
• To ensure the compliance of mandatory training and appraisal requirements for delegated Nursing Assistants.
• To ensure a positive focused service incorporating patients’ feedback to maintain and improve patient care.
• To act as an effective role model promoting excellence through practice.
• To respect patient choice and work with a non-judgmental attitude providing care to patients in a variety of clinical settings including intimate examinations and termination of pregnancy services.
