Hillwood Primary School Nursery
Salary: £33,287 - £39,129 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional)
Hours: 20.5 per week, 39 weeks sessional
Working pattern for position is Wednesday to Friday.
Hillwood Primary School is a small non-denominational primary school situated on the western outskirts of Edinburgh. The school currently has 758 pupils organised into 4 composite classes and an Early Years class providing for eligible 2-year olds as well as delivering 1140 hours during term time only.
An opportunity has arisen at Hillwood Primary school for a part time Early Years Officer to work closely with the SLT to improve outcomes for all children within the school nursery setting. The Early Years Officer (EYO) will act as key worker to individual children in the provision of the following services:
Delivery of the pre-school and birth to three curriculum
Promotion of welfare and wellbeing of children, including child protection
Supporting parents & carers in a variety of ways, including running parenting groups
Liaison with staff and external organisations to provide support that will enable children to meet their developmental milestones
We would invite applications from experienced /qualified practitioners who:
Are enthusiastic and skilled with relevant experience of working with children in an educational and nursery setting
Have a passion for supporting the care and learning of young children
Have a sound knowledge of early years pedagogy and child development and will provide support to staff to develop play pedagogy
Have experience of delivering high quality play experiences to children within an early learning and childcare setting (indoors and outdoors)
Have experience of supporting children with emotional and behavioural needs and is skilled in establishing effective positive relationships with children
Have the ability to support and mentor other staff within the team, sharing their knowledge and experience
Enjoy working as part of a team and are eager to make a valued contribution to a team
You will have knowledge and experience of current early learning and childcare provision and procedures
Have an HNC/SVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent
The successful candidate will have to register with SSSC within 6 months of employment commencing if they have not already done so.
