The Planning and Infrastructure Service are seeking an enthusiastic professional to join its busy Planning Compliance and Enforcement Team.

The main purpose of the role is to support the delivery of an effective compliance and enforcement service addressing all types of unauthorised developments relating to the Planning Acts and to ensure that development is carried out in accordance with approved plans.

You will be responsible for proactively managing a caseload of compliance and enforcement investigations into reported breaches of planning control from receipt of an initial complaint through to appeals arising from enforcement action. You may have had previous experience of providing planning advice or have worked within an investigation or enforcement role. The ability to gain a swift, working knowledge of relevant legislation, planning policy and guidance is required although support would be given to develop into the role.

Good interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills are essential as is the ability to deliver high quality advice in a timely manner to a wide range of customers. You will also be extremely organised, able to take responsibility for your own work and at the same time contribute to the overall performance of the team.

Within easy reach of London, Basingstoke is a fast-paced, vibrant and modern town with many successful businesses, surrounded by picturesque villages and set in the stunning Hampshire countryside. It has a wealth of architectural heritage with over 1800 Listed Buildings and more than 40 Conservation Areas. The area also includes Highclere Castle, the setting of TV’s Downton Abbey and Laverstoke Mill, home to Bombay Sapphire. There are activities for every interest, including an international concert hall, a regional shopping centre, an indoor sky-diving centre and impressive sports and leisure facilities. Based at the Civic Offices in Basingstoke, near to the Top of Town, you would report directly to the Principal Planning Officer.
