A high profile, accessible and responsive leader with managerial and clinical responsibility for the delivery of Advanced Clinical Practice in Interventional Radiology (IR). Able to make informed decisions within their own speciality and scope of professional practice, involving patients and public to ensure agreed standards, targets and objectives are met.

The post holder is an experienced healthcare professional undertaking a Masters Level qualification, who will act as a clinical leader within the Radiology department. They will autonomously assess patients undergoing IR procedures including initial history taking, clinical assessment, treatment and evaluation of care. They will demonstrate safe, senior clinical decision-making and expert care for patients, supporting appropriate clinical management plans and prescription of any medication required. They will have oversight of IR’s pre assessment and ward assessment services.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

Post holder will demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process, autonomously assessing elective IR patients including initial history taking, clinical assessment, and evaluation of care. They will work collaboratively with the Radiology team to meet the needs of patients, and will play a key role in service delivery and adherence to policy and procedures. They will also be instrumental in guiding junior medical and nursing staff in relation to relevant protocols and procedures.

The post holder will be required to work within all areas where Interventional Radiology patients may be housed. This includes wards, the Day Surgery Unit and Radiology undertaking primary and secondary assessments alongside medical colleagues, providing support and guidance to nursing and medical staff in the management of IR patients. They will work alongside medical, nursing, radiology and multi-disciplinary colleagues in the management of IR patients providing support, guidance and advice as required. The post holder will act as a lead specialist and will demonstrate a high level of expertise within the specialist service, providing specialist advice, education, facilitating training and development, along with support to IR nursing team, other healthcare professionals and patients.The post holder will work in partnership with members of multidisciplinary team to develop, implement and evaluate a seamless specialist service, ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of clinical care.The post holder will required to ensure evidence based care is delivered to patients and will be involved in audit of practice, research and service improvement
