Clinical To monitor skin integrity of patients at risk of pressure sores formation and provide basic preventative information. To provide Health Promotion advice for patients e.g. monitoring diet and fluid intake, demonstration of products and aids. To document all information and report findings to the continence advisors/ continence nurse in accordance with Trust policies. To provide clinical intervention for care of patients as directed by continence advisors/continence nurse following training and assessment of competencies e.g. Urinalysis. To check equipment on a regular basis and ensure it is safe to use. To report any Health and Safety or Infection Control issues to nurse specialist /advisor. To assist in clinical practice as expected up to NVQ level 3. Education and Development Develop own clinical knowledge and identify areas for development within Personal Development Plan in collaboration with nurse specialist/ advisor Participate in the development of others clinical practice and knowledge To attend mandatory training in accordance with Trust Policies and Procedures. Information Governance Employees of the Trust must comply with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998. The post holder must not; either during the course of their employment, or following termination of their employment, disclose any information relating to service users or employees, or of the lawful business practices, of the organisation. To demonstrate own duties to new members of staff and relevant others. Participate in the implementation of agreed standards of care through evidence based practice. Participate in research, clinical audit, benchmarking and clinical trials in order to improve effectiveness of patient care. Promote patient and public involvement leading to service improvement. Promote peoples equality, diversity and rights. The post holder will be required, when and where appropriate to the role, to comply with the processing of requests under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 The post holder must comply with Trust policies that protect the information assets of the organisation from unauthorised disclosure, modification, destruction, inappropriate access or use and must pay due regard to the requirements of the NHS Confidentiality Code of Practice. The post holder will be responsible for maintaining the clinical and or corporate records that fall within the remit of this role to the standards in Trust records management polices, and data quality processes and standards. Postholders with elevated access to IT systems are held accountable to the highest standards of use Health & Safety Compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 the postholder is required to fulfil a proactive role towards the management of risk in all of their actions. This entails the risk assessment of all situations, the taking of appropriate actions and reporting of all incidents, near misses and hazards, and a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions. Mental Capacity Act 2005 The Mental Capacity Act 2005 applies to all Trust staff. It is the responsibility of every person to ensure that they keep up to date with the Act and that the delivery of patient care/services is conducted in line with local and national policy and the MCA Code of Practice. Safeguarding is Everyones Business The Trust has a responsibility to ensure that all children / young people and adults are adequately safeguarded and protected. As a consequence, all Trust employees are required to adhere to national and local safeguarding policies / procedures and to act upon any concerns in accordance with them. Infection Control It is Trust policy to reduce the risk of Healthcare Associated Infection by having in place Infection Prevention and Control Policies. These policies must be adhered to by all staff to ensure patients are cared for in a clean environment and receive the highest standards of clinical care. Smoke Free NHS The NHS is Smoke - Free. Smoking is not permitted on any of our premises or the surrounding land including car parking facilities. Training The postholder must attend any training that is identified as mandatory to their role. The range of duties and responsibilities outlined above are indicative only and are intended to give an overview of the range and type of duties that will be allocated. They are subject to modification in the light of changing service demands and the development requirements of the postholder. Anti-Fraud, Bribery & Corruption Policy One of the basic principles of public sector organisations is the proper use of public funds. Bridgewater is committed to reducing the level of fraud, bribery and corruption within the NHS and would encourage anyone having reasonable suspicions of such activity to report them. FRAUD involves dishonestly making false representation, failing to disclose information or abusing a position held with the intention of making financial gain or causing a financial loss. BRIBERY or CORRUPTION involves offering, promising or giving a payment or benefit-in-kind in order to influence others to use their position in an improper way to gain an advantage. You should familiarise yourself with the contents of the above policy. Criminal Offences, Police Cautions, Warnings or Reprimands You must disclose any relevant information to the organisation regarding criminal offences during and/or outside of employment, receiving police cautions, final warnings or reprimands. This should be done as soon as the incident happens, or as soon as is reasonably practicable. Action may be taken under appropriate Trust procedures against existing employees if it is discovered that they failed to disclose/misrepresented information relevant to their position.
