Summary
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES To undertake the clinical and administrative duties outlined in the job plan - to be agreed on appointment and reviewed regularly. To provide patient-centred, high quality care ensuring that patients are well informed and able to participate in their care. To be responsible for maintaining satisfactory patient records. This will include entering of relevant data into electronic patient records. To provide regular updates to GPs and other relevant health care professionals. Provide relevant sexual health, general health and adherence promotion. To work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) including engagement in the weekly MDT meeting to review antiretrovirals & complex clinical or psychosocial questions. To support the HIV/hepatitis team in terms of emergency clinic cover, emergency prescriptions and other clinical activities as required. To refer patients where appropriate this includes specialty to specialty referrals within UCLH when indicated. To treat all patients in a sensitive and non-judgmental manner. To maintain confidentiality in accordance with national and local policies. To be available for advice as agreed in the job plan and to give medical advice to junior medical staff, nursing colleagues, local pharmacy and general practice teams. To take responsibility for designated management tasks as agreed with the local management team. Participate in the induction of new members of staff when required. Fulfil the requirements for appraisal and revalidation as set out by the General Medical Council. TEACHING AND TRAINING To share in the induction, training and supervision of trainee and other non-consultant doctors in the CS as appropriate. To take an active role in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training provided by the Service. To participate in teaching clinical staff within the department, across the North Central London sector and within CNWL as required CNWL is committed to personal and professional development CLINICAL GOVERNANCE To work to ensure risks and hazards to patients are reduced to as low a level as possible. To work with other members of the team to ensure that evidence from research is systematically considered and practices changed as appropriate. To work within Trust Policies and Procedures. To participate in, or lead, audits of clinical care and/or quality improvement projects. To assist in the collection of data for service management and for statutory reporting. To participate actively in the wider clinical governance programme of the Trust. To report incidents through the Datix system in a timely manner, To assist in investigation of incidents and complaints where required. Participate in the Departmental CPD programme as required. To fulfil requirements for recertification of qualifications as laid down by the relevant Royal College or Faculty. Participate in the Trust appraisal programme and to fulfil the requirements for licensing and revalidation. To complete mandatory training requirements as laid down in Trust policies. RESEARCH To participate in the research activity of the service, including signposting appropriate patients to recruiting trials. The postholder will be encouraged to develop their own research interests. To work within the terms of the Research Governance framework at all times.
