Are you a newly qualified GP looking for an exciting and supportive role to launch your career? Barrington Medical Centre is looking for a highly motivated and dedicated newly qualified GP to join our friendly multidisciplinary team under the NHS Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme. This post is initially 4 sessions per week for 6 months, with the expectation that it will continue at 1 - 2 sessions per week from April 2026, subject to ongoing funding. The annual salary stated is based on 4 sessions per week and will be pro-rated in line with the number of sessions worked from April 2026. You will have excellent clinical and communication skills and must hold MRCGP. The role will include a range of duties in line with the agreed practice timetable, including: Surgery consultations Telephone consultations and queries Home visits where required Checking and signing repeat prescriptions Managing clinical tasks, paperwork and correspondence in a timely way You will also be responsible for: Making autonomous clinical decisions in relation to presenting problems Assessing patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions Screening for disease risk factors and early signs of illness Developing care plans in line with practice disease management protocols Providing counselling, lifestyle advice and health education Referring patients appropriately to other providers Admitting or discharging patients from your caseload as appropriate Keeping clear, accurate and contemporaneous clinical records Collecting and recording data for personal and practice audits Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions Prescribing in accordance with the practice formulary where clinically appropriate In general, you will undertake all duties normally associated with a GP working within primary care. You will be expected to: Reflect on your own practice and participate in appraisal and revalidation Engage with audits, significant event reviews and quality improvement activity Follow practice guidelines, protocols and policies Suggest and support changes that improve patient care, safety and efficiency Induction, learning and development All new staff complete a practice induction programme. You will be expected to undertake mandatory training and to keep your skills and knowledge up to date. Additional learning and development relevant to the role and the needs of the service will be supported where possible. Collaborative working and professional conduct You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and are expected to communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues, patients and external agencies. Staff are expected to maintain high standards of professional behaviour and appearance in keeping with their clinical role and the expectations of the practice. Annual and study leave should be taken in line with practice policy and with regard to service needs.
