The role of Business Unit Officer is to collaborate with and work under the direction of the National Business Unit Manager to ensure that business support and financial processes are aligned with Survey and Inspection (S&I) priorities. Provide financial and administrative support across S&I. Overseeing and managing customer’s accounts, invoicing for and refunding fees, keeping accurate financial records, through MCA’s online systems and SharePoint. Ensure consistency in approach to business support within the Business Unit and between Marine offices.
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
Work under the line management and direction of the National Business Unit Manager to ensure that consistent business support is aligned with Survey and Inspection priorities and to develop working relationships and processes to improve the efficiency of the Business Unit and S&I.Routine engagement with the MCA HQ Finance and Procurement Team to adhere to high levels of governance particularly relating to all areas of MCA’s online finance systems, ensuring full understanding and compliance with MCA requirements across S&I (Business Unit, Marine Offices, including remote workers), with particular emphasis to Customer Shipping Accounts, Cash Accounts and Invoices. Report to the National Business Unit Manager any identified risks within the Business Unit as soon as immediately practicable.Undertake the updating of the monthly cash account and paperwork for banking of cash and cheques.Provide routine administrative business support. This may include maintaining a shared email in box, telephone answering, filing (paper and electronic systems) and post duties.Assist National Business Unit Manager with management of Finance, ICT and Health & Safety.Assist the National Business Unit Manager with internal and external Audit preparation.For further information on the role, please read the role profile.
