Summary
Installing, maintaining, and repairing cooling and climate control systems in commercial settings.
Key responsibilities include planning and installing systems, diagnosing and fixing faults, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring systems comply with safety and environmental regulations.
This is a hands-on role that requires problem-solving skills and the ability to advise client on system upgrades and energy efficiency.
Common job responsibilities
Installation and commissioning: Plan the layout of pipework, ducts, and control panels, and then install and commission new refrigeration and air conditioning units.
Maintenance and repair: Conduct scheduled maintenance checks and respond to urgent breakdowns to diagnose faults and repair broken systems.
Troubleshooting: Identify and fix problems with equipment, ensuring systems are working properly and safely.
System assessment: Inspect premises to determine installation practicality and advise clients on system upgrades or energy-saving options.
Compliance and safety: Safely handle refrigerant gases and ensure all work complies with safety, environmental, and legal regulations, such as the F-Gas Regulations.
Record keeping: Maintain detailed records of work performed and compliance certificates.
