Crynodeb
The purpose of the role is to provide strategic and operational nursing leadership withinIntensive Therapy Unit (ITU), Critical Care Outreach Team (CCOT)and Acute Painservices(SWNS Division) to ensure and consistently develop a high-quality efficient nursing service for patients.
The post holder will support the Head of Nursing and Deputy Chief Nurse (DCN) in leading the development of the nursing agenda within the division. The postholder will be one of the named deputies for the Head of Nursing. The postholder will provide professional leadership to nurses within the division and in conjunction with the Head of Nursing will develop the clinical leadership capability of nursing. They will lead on professional nursing education working in conjunction with the DCN and Head of Education to ensure that the divisional development needs are met.
The postholder will take a lead in local projects to promote and develop nursing and will be responsible for leading on the quality of patient care working closely with the Head of Nursing, DCN, Associate Medical Directors and Divisional Operations Directors. They will lead on the management and delivery of specific projects or initiatives as defined by the DCN and/or Divisional Operations Directors. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of financial, quality, human resource, and productivity targets, development of the annual divisional business plan and cost improvement plan.

In conjunction with the Head of Nursing manage and undertake thematic reviews of complaints, incidents, and PALS data.
To lead on patient/family experience including bereavement meetings and complaints mitigation.
Lead and support staff in undertaking After Action Reviews (AAR) and assist in contributing to Patient Safety Incident Investigations (PSII).
Performance Management
Contribute to the development and implementation of the Divisional delivery plan by providing leadership and oversight of
Clinical quality, HR and financial standards
Education, Training and Development
Personal, People Management and Development
To participate in appropriate personal development activities to ensure registration is maintained and clinical practice is up to date.
To line manage and develop the designated Matrons and Ward Managers.
