Crynodeb

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn't exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today.

About the role

Liverpool John Moores University is recruiting a Campus Support (Security) Supervisor to help shape the next stage of our modern, professional, and people-centred security service.

This role is about more than day-to-day incident management. You'll play a key part in developing service standards, strengthening team culture, and driving consistency of approach across shifts. Working closely with the Head of Campus Support (Security), you'll contribute to strategic priorities such as:

  • Embedding a professional, accountable, and inclusive culture across the team.
  • Promoting best practice and service improvement in line with university values.
  • Supporting the rollout of new technology, training, and modernised systems.
  • Acting as a key link between operational teams and the wider university community.
  • Providing visible leadership and assurance during incidents, events, and critical situations.

This role also supports the University's commitment to preparedness and compliance under the forthcoming Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act (Martyn's Law) and wider resilience planning. Helping ensure a safe, welcoming, and resilient campus for all.

You'll be trusted to lead by example, coaching others, influencing change, and ensuring that the service continues to evolve to meet the needs of a complex, city-centre university environment.

About you

You're a confident, people-focused leader who can inspire others and set high standards. Whether you come from a security, facilities, or other customer-facing background, you'll bring the ability to lead, communicate, and problem-solve effectively.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supervising or developing teams in a dynamic, customer-centred setting.
  • Can think strategically and translate direction into clear, practical delivery.
  • Understands how to influence behaviour, build trust, and encourage accountability.
  • Remains calm, fair, and professional when managing complex or sensitive situations.
  • Has good digital literacy and a willingness to adopt new technologies.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence (maximum of 3 penalty points).

If you're motivated by leading people, improving services, and being part of a team that's modernising security within higher education, this is an opportunity to make a real impact.

In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction and development support as well as family-friendly policies.

This is an exciting time to join the university as we deliver the LJMU Strategy 2030 and its vision of LJMU as an inclusive civic university transforming lives and futures, by placing students at the heart of everything we do.

If you feel that this is the role you have been looking for and your skills and experience can make a real difference at LJMU, we look forward to hearing from you.

LJMU is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds and communities irrespective of age, transgender status, disability, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity and religion or belief. All our appointments are made on merit. Please note all of our vacancies will be closed to applications at midnight on the advertised closing date, unless otherwise stated.
