We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Consultant Rheumatologist to join our team at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The main duties of the role will be providing personalised care for patients in an outpatient setting, responding to GP advice and guidance requests, triaging new referrals and providing ward consultations to inpatients. You will also contribute significantly to multidisciplinary teams whilst receiving support for your own specialist development. There are also opportunities to support education and training of junior doctors and to get involved in research via the department’s close links with St George’s University.

We are interested in appointing a motivated and highly competent doctor to this post, and you will have the opportunity to further develop high quality rheumatology services across St George’s and Queen Mary’s Hospitals.

The post holder will;
• Have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge.
• Work closely with consultant colleagues in the Rheumatology care group to ensure proper functioning of the Care Group, appropriate co-ordination of clinical services and continuity of care for patients.
• Work as part of the clinical team to ensure that the waiting list targets are met.
• Continually update their education in Rheumatology and GiM and fulfill his/her CME and GMC revalidation requirements
• Take part in the training of undergraduate and postgraduate doctors and in the professional development of other staff groups in relation to Rheumatological clinical care.

St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George’s Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).

After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce.
