About the Role
This is an exciting time to join Sandwell Metropolitan Brought Council Adult Social Care. We are looking to recruit full time (37 hour) Social Workers in our Community Mental Health Social Work Teams with a view to undertaking AMHP training.
This will be a very interesting and diverse role. Applicants must be conversant with the Care Act 2014, Continuing Health Care, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Community DOLS/LPS in addition to other relevant legislation. Dependent on experience you will need to be confident in undertaking safeguarding investigations, mental capacity assessments, best interest decisions, carrying out outcome focused assessments and support planning to meet care and support needs for working age adults with mental health needs and young adults transitioning from care. The use of pool cars are available to carry out your duties subject to a satisfactory risk assessment and licence check.
You will be provided with an induction, appropriate training opportunities and regular supervision. You will be working in a stable, friendly service with a skilled, diverse and supportive management and team.

The role will entail duty, care management, safeguarding, tribunal reports, hospital discharge, and young adults transitioning from care. You will also be required to assist AMHPs on Mental Health Act assessments as a second worker. About You
You will bring:
Applicants must be a qualified social worker and registered with Social Work England.
You will have ideally completed your ASYE, but this can be supported if not already attained.
Dependent on experience you will need to be confident in undertaking safeguarding investigations, mental capacity assessments, best interest decisions, carrying out outcome focused assessments and support planning, to meet care and support needs for working age adults with mental health needs and young adults transitioning from care.
Car driving licence holder with the ability to travel within and outside of the borough at short notice
Ability to work unsocial hours if the service demands
Willingness to undertake AMHP training subject to service and university selection criteria.
