We are working with one of our clients who are looking to analyse the local housing market and what demographics are needed for new housing
We are seeking a detail-driven and proactive Temporary Researcher to support a short-term project analysing local housing needs across various demographic groups. This role will involve gathering information from a range of community stakeholders and compiling a structured analysis to help determine which population groups would most benefit from new housing or accommodation solutions in the area.
The ideal candidate will be confident speaking with community organisations, capable of conducting desk and field research, and skilled in turning findings into clear, actionable insights.
Research & Data Collection
• Conduct research into local housing needs across multiple demographic groups, including but not limited to:
o Pensioners
o Single parents (mothers and fathers)
o Homeless individuals
o Ex-military / veterans
o Young people leaving care
o Low-income households or other identified groups
• Gather demographic data, waiting list information, and existing service provision from local authorities and public sources.
• Review existing housing support schemes, community initiatives, and local government reports.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
• Contact and hold conversations with:
o Local churches
o Housing associations
o Community support groups
o Charities
o Local council departments
o Veteran support organisations
• Record insights, challenges, and recurring themes identified by stakeholders.
• Build a clear picture of current gaps in accommodation, shelter, support, and social care.
Analysis & Reporting
• Analyse all collected information to identify which categories have the highest or most urgent need for new housing solutions.
• Compare local demand, existing provision, and projected community trends.
• Produce a concise but thorough findings report, including:
o Summary of each demographic group
o Identified gaps in local provision
o Statistical and qualitative insights
o Recommendations on priority groups for new accommodation
• Present findings clearly to the project team or decision-makers.

Skills & Experience Required
Essential
• Strong research skills, including data gathering, fact-checking, and qualitative review.
• Confident communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders professionally.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload across a flexible 3-day schedule.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience in community research, social research, or similar roles.
Desirable
• Background or interest in housing, social care, local government, or community development.
• Experience conducting interviews or stakeholder outreach.
• Understanding of vulnerable groups and housing challenges.
