About the role This appointment is an excellent opportunity for clinicians in any speciality at any stage of their career to gain experience of clinical research in a leading research organisation, as well as those aiming for a career in Medical or Clinical Oncology, Experimental Medicine or Pharmaceutical Medicine to advance within a supportive environment. The Clinical Research Fellow will work in the Division of Cancer based at the Hammersmith Hospital Campus with a dynamic group of clinicians and scientists engaged in evaluating novel therapeutics for cancer treatment. What you would be doing The primary role of the post holder is to provide medical support for PELICAN Clinical Trial in Cancer, a first-in class phase II clinical study of chemotherapy and immunotherapy in High Grade Neuroendocrine Carcinoma. The study will be delivered within the Oncology Department at Imperial College NHS Trust and within the NIHR Imperial Clinical Research Facility (ICRF). The post holder will work directly with experienced senior researchers supporting the implementation of patient-based clinical trials across the earliest phases of clinical development (phase IA, IB and II) in an established clinical academic environment that benefits from both on-site acute medical services and experienced administrative support. The postholder will also attend regular oncology clinics at the Hammersmith Site (Phase I clinics) 1 day a week to facilitate recruitment to clinical studies and gain further experience in the multi-disciplinary management of cancer patients. The activity within the Unit will support training in drug development, study design, pharmacovigilance, project management, and conduct of clinical trials, as well as regulatory aspects of clinical experimentation. Access to an ePortfolio will be facilitated for post holders not in higher specialist training. Further information Alongside clinical work within Oncology and the Clinical Research Facility, the post-holder will be required to assist and lead in the conduction of clinical research project in cancer drug development as directed by Dr David Pinato. The research project will entail project design, experimental work in addition to data analysis and reporting the results in peer-reviewed journals. This role is fulltime, fixed term based at Hammersmith Campus.
